#1 ) i am shocked

that i didn't hear about this until NOW (the avon cop's emails and barack obama)

like i commented on andy's blog; the cool justice report i worked in avon for more than 1/2 of my life. i saw what i saw when i worked there (meaning i saw who got stopped and who didn't).

how can ANYONE with half a brain pass misinformation on (of the sort that was happening with barack obama). i saw people (on videos, i never saw one in person) foaming at the mouth to get a noose out (and i'm NOT exaggerating either). i saw certain other people (one of whom was sareveil) egg these neo-facist neo-nazis on.

do people REALLY think barack obama is the devil? i don't know. i KNOW SOME PEOPLE THINK I AM (really they do. i'm not just saying that to make a point for this story. i've written that about me before)

see there ARE things i disagree with obama on

and this is one of them. da liebs is a traitor. i've said it before, i would have forgiven him if he simply backed mccain and kept his mouth shut. he did NOT do that. not only did he back mccain but he said ugly and vile things about obama. i don't care if da liebs gets made a gop martyr or not. i don't want him in MY party. kick him to the curb NOW

Analyst: Obama fears punishing Lieberman would make him a GOP hero
Filed by David Edwards and Muriel Kane
In the wake of the presidential election, one of the most vexing problems for Senate Democrats is how to deal with Senator Joe Lieberman (I-CT), who not only supported the candidacy of John McCain but broke earlier promises by engaging in negative campaigning against Barack Obama.

Obama himself reportedly has told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid he would like to see Lieberman remain within the Democratic caucus. Political analyst Howard Fineman explained to MSNBC's Keith Olbermann on Monday why he believes Obama's position makes sense..........

i think we have to start thinking of

kicking harry reid to the curb as well as da liebs.

what sort of pictures does da liebs have on these peeps that they won't do the right and JUST thing by dumping da liebs WITHOUT looking back?

he didn't just endorse mccain (which i could forgive) he said and did things against barack obama. that's inexcusable. we don't want him. he should be punished for his deeds. first by yanking his committee chairpersonships then by the good people of connecticut NOT re-electing him.

Anti-Choice Harry Reid Thinks Lieberman is Progressive
By: Teddy Partridge Sunday November 9, 2008 1:53 pm
....... "Joe Lieberman is not some right-wing nutcase," he said. "Joe Lieberman is one of the most progressive people ever to come from the state of Connecticut."

Progressive Democrats didn't support John McCain for President.

Progressive Democrats didn't undermine our party's nominee by agreeing that it was a good question to ask whether he was a socialist.

Progressive Democrats didn't campaign for downticket Republicans -- Joe Lieberman wrote an op-ed for Norm Coleman! He raised money for Susan Collins! Joe Lieberman took affirmative steps to increase the size of the Republican Senate caucus.

What more evidence is needed to oust Lieberman?

These are not the words of a progressive Democrat:

"Sen. Obama is a gifted and eloquent young man who can do great things for our country in the years ahead. But, my friends, eloquence is no substitute for a record," Lieberman said at the Republican convention in early September.

Lieberman charged that Obama had not reached across party lines to "get anything significant done" and said that the McCain-Palin ticket was "the real ticket for change."

From where Harry Reid sits, as an anti-choice Democrat, every single member of the Democratic caucus looks like a progressive. That doesn't make Joe Lieberman a progressive. It doesn't make him a Democrat, either.............

i've been thinking about this song for days now

it's just been on my mind. i can't think of any song more fitting. it was written for a purpose. it was written for a purpose back then, but it's the SAME purpose right now.

i haven't stopped crying since i left the voting booth yesterday morning. i had the foresight to ask to work from home yesterday, but like the giant dope i am, i did NOT have the foresight to ask to work from home today as well. people kept asking me (at work) if i was all right. they asked because i had not spoken a single word (unusual. VERY unusual). if they approached me and i looked at them, i just started crying again. i can't stop.i've never felt like this before. something is bubbling up from the very depths of my soul. hope? is that what it is?

my sister tells me her middle child 'k' who is in her early 20s was kick ass for obama. it's sort of shocking. only in that i never thought of her as political in any way shape or form. she made her boyfriend register to vote AND vote. he's considerably older than she AND he has never registered to vote or voted before. she made her older sister vote and she made her younger brother vote.i'm wellin' with pride about that. if you knew her you'd be just as blown away as i am. really

and just in case you didn't know why sam cooke wrote and sang this song ......

Obama's Letter Was Answer To A Little Boy's Request

    |The Hartford Courant
WEST HARTFORD — - When Amy Mondschein dashed into Solomon Schechter Day School last Thursday, the head of the school and her son's teacher were waiting. The Enfield resident, whose son is a second-grader at the Jewish day school, was running late that day. Was she in trouble?

    Far from it.

An envelope addressed to her son, Aron, 7, had been delivered to the school that morning. It was from Barack Obama, senator from Illinois and Democratic presidential candidate. "They were all excited," Mondschein said. "The whole school was abuzz. They took a picture of [Aron]. He was like a little celebrity."
A little more than a month earlier, teacher Joyce Ben-KiKi had Aron and his classmates each send letters to a famous person as part of a language arts lesson. Ben-KiKi wrapped the exercise around well-known children's book character "Flat Stanley," so along with the letters, the children each tucked a Flat Stanley figure they had made into each envelope.

"I told them not to expect a letter back," Ben-KiKi said. "I told them these people are very busy and most likely will not write back."...........

    We Endorse Obama For President

INSPIRING, UNIFYING He would make the nation proud

In its 244-year history, The Courant has endorsed only one Democratic candidate for president, Bill Clinton. Today we endorse a second Democrat, Sen. Barack Obama, with the hope that if elected, he governs from the middle as Mr. Clinton did. Mr. Obama must resist serving only his party's interests and instead serve the greater interests of a worried nation.

America is starved for a leader who can restore pride and once again make the nation a beacon for the world, or in the words of Massachusetts Gov. John Winthrop in 1630, "a city on a hill — with the eyes of all people upon us."

Mr. Obama has the right qualities of leadership, the elevating, can-do message that "we are the ones we have been waiting for" and the calm temperament for these anxious times. He has the counsel of such trusted figures as former Republican Secretary of State Colin Powell and investment legend Warren Buffett...

our newspaper.........(it's ABOUT TIME dontcha know)

i don't follow who (or is that whom) papers endorse. connecticut is a notoriously democratic state. it's rather shocking they've only endorsed TWO democrats in 244 years. (wow, our paper is 244 years old!)

'Hartford Courant' To Endorse Obama, Only 2nd Democrat Ever
    By Dexter Hill
NEW YORK The Hartford Courant will endorse Sen. Obama this weekend, making it the newspaper’s second endorsement of a Democratic presidential candidate in its 244-year history. The pro-Obama editorial will appear on the newspaper’s Web site late Saturday afternoon and in the print edition on Sunday, E&P has learned.

The St. Petersburg Times in key swing state Florida also endorsed Obama in an online posting today (see excerpt below).

The Hartford endorsement selects the Democratic candidate because of his leadership qualities. It calls America “starved for a leader who can restore pride and once again make the nation a beacon for the world,” and argues that Obama is the candidate who could do it. The editorial projects that the Illinois senator would govern from the middle and maintain a calm temperament if elected president.

Lieberman: Obama Has Not Always Put Country First

    By Michael Cooper

YORK, Pa. – One of the McCain campaign’s new themes, that Senator John McCain has always put his country first, has been seen by some analysts as a subtle suggestion that his opponent, Senator Barack Obama, has not.

But as he introduced Mr. McCain at a campaign event here on Tuesday, Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut made the attack a lot more explicit, calling the election a choice “between one candidate, John McCain, who has always put the country first, worked across party lines to get things done, and one candidate who has not.’’

Mr. Lieberman, the Connecticut Independent who was the Democratic vice presidential nominee in 2000, made the remark as he used his introduction of Mr. McCain to deliver a harsh assessment of Mr. Obama without mentioning his name..........

Obama In Heated Conversation With Lieberman
    by Sam Stein
Update: Obama and Lieberman had a heated conversation on the floor of the Senate later today. Details below.
Senator Joe Lieberman, serving aptly as John McCain's foreign policy attack dog, jumped on a conference call with reporters on Wednesday to rip holes into Barack Obama's stance on Israel.
    Playing off of
Obama's address to the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, the Connecticut independent acknowledged that he hadn't heard the speech -- and urged for a "civil and constructive" presidential campaign -- before taking Obama to task for not being consistently tough on Iran.
"I appreciate many of the very good intentions to Israel and Israeli security that Senator Obama expressed today," said Lieberman. "I thought in the speech there was a disconnect between things Senator Obama said today, particularly in regard to Iran, and things he has said or done earlier either in the campaign or the Senate.".........

    ....................UPDATE: Roll Call reports:
Furthermore, during a Senate vote Wednesday, Obama dragged Lieberman by the hand to a far corner of the Senate chamber and engaged in what appeared to reporters in the gallery as an intense, three-minute conversation.
While it was unclear what the two were discussing, the body language suggested that Obama was trying to convince Lieberman of something and his stance appeared slightly intimidating.
Using forceful, but not angry, hand gestures, Obama literally backed up Lieberman against the wall, leaned in very close at times, and appeared to be trying to dominate the conversation, as the two talked over each other in a few instances.
Still, Obama and Lieberman seemed to be trying to keep the back-and-forth congenial as they both patted each other on the back during and after the exchange.
Afterwards, Obama smiled and pointed up at reporters peering over the edge of the press gallery for a better glimpse of their interaction.
Obama loyalists were quick to express their frustration with Lieberman's decision and warned that if he continues to take a lead role in attacking Obama it could complicate his professional relationship with the Caucus..............

    hmmmm i didn't even know

    he had a step-son.

    Lieberman's Step-Son: I'm Voting For Obama

There's one less Democrat listening to Sen. Joe Lieberman. Rabbi Ethan Tucker, the senator's step son, offered up his opinion on the difficulties facing Obama in reaching out to the Jewish community:

Tucker, 32, the biological son of Lieberman's wife, Hadassah, opines that an age split is apparent within the Jewish community in attitudes about Obama (as has also been shown in the overall Democratic constituency). Tucker, as paraphrased by reporter Jodi Kantor, asserts that younger Jews "have grown up in diverse settings and are therefore less likely to be troubled by Mr. Obama's associations than their elders."..........

Wesleyan Scrambles To Ready Campus For Obama

    |Courant Staff Writer
MIDDLETOWN - When Sen. Ted Kennedy's medical condition cast doubt this week on his plans to give the commencement address at Wesleyan University Sunday, some doubted the campus could field an equally prominent speaker on such short notice.

    Then came Barack Obama.

The Illinois senator, presumptive Democratic nominee for president and possibly the hottest speaking ticket in the country right now, will give the commencement address Sunday in Kennedy's place, officials for the senators and the university said Thursday.

In a statement released by his campaign, Obama said Kennedy, who was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor this week, had talked to him earlier in the week about taking his place at Wesleyan.......

Lieberman: ‘I Personally Checked John McCain’s Bearings’
    By: SilentPatriot
In an interview on CNN Thursday, Senator Obama said John McCain was “losing his bearings” after he repeatedly suggested that Hamas had endorsed his candidacy, even though their positions on the issue are nearly identical. Now, loyal Democrat (except on the small issue of “the war”) Joe Lieberman is coming to McCain’s defense after the presumptive GOP nominee accused Barack Obama of playing the “age card.”..........

    way to go governor weicker!

i always thought lowell looked like my old boss bill. both very tall, very strong men. unfortunately bill died a few years back. a YOUNG man. cancer. i went to his funeral at an air force base on cape cod. as far as funerals go, it was quite lovely and moving. i miss bill. i HATED working for him. we fought all of the time. others were intimidated by him because of his size and his power. i of course wasn't. i once even walked out of his office durning my annual review, slamming the door. years later, on a business trip we discussed that. i told him if i didn't walk out he would have had to fire me. i would have verbally AND physically assaulted him. when bill stopped being my boss (i started to report to someone else), we became the BEST of friends. one thing about bill i always admired, he treated everyone the same. from the mailroom employees to ceos. i miss you bill!
Former Connecticut governor Weicker endorses Obama
    Stephanie Reitz

HARTFORD, Conn.—Former Republican senator and Connecticut independent Gov. Lowell P. Weicker Jr. endorsed Barack Obama's presidential bid Friday, saying the Illinois Democrat "has the smarts, quite frankly, to do a damn good job."
    more stories like this
Weicker, 76, said Obama's positive outlook, vision for the country's future and common sense made him the obvious candidate to endorse.
"Even though I'm almost 77 years old, I want a fresh start and a young start for this country," Weicker said. "I think we've had enough of the old-timers in both parties."
Weicker, a former U.S. congressman and senator, was elected Connecticut's governor in 1990 as an independent under his "A Connecticut Party" label. He served one term.
Reached by telephone Friday while traveling in Virginia, Weicker called Democratic contender Hillary Rodham Clinton "a very capable individual," but said he did not endorse her because "it's time to get on with some new thinking in this country.".........

Joe Lieberman Attacks Barack Obama On Fox News (Video) (click the link for video)
    By: Jane Hamsher
There's nothing quite like seeing it live:
LIEBERMAN: Well, I think that - let me say generally that Sen. Obama doesn't come to this debate with a lot of credibility. Basically on the question of Iraq, John McCain has had the guts to stand out on his own arguing for what he thought was right. And it turned out that he was right about the surge working to improve conditions in Iraq.
If we did what Sen. Obama wanted us to do last year, Al-Qaeda in Iran would be in control of Iraq today. The whole Middle East would be in turmoil and American security and credibility would be jeopardized.
On the specific question of the 100 years, I think that's an unfortunate example of the way Sen. Obama has used it, of playing political gotcha with a national security question.........

Sen. Dodd to endorse Barack Obama
    By ConnPolitics.tv Editor, on Feb 26, 2008
Washington (AP) _ Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut plans to endorse former presidential rival Barack Obama.
Dodd will endorse his colleague, a senator from Illinois, in Cleveland today, according to a Democratic official close to Dodd who requested anonymity because no formal announcement had been made.
Dodd’s support, coupled with his liberal credentials, could provide a boost for Obama as major contests near in big states such as Ohio and Texas on March 4. Obama has won some key Democratic endorsements in recent weeks, including Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, a close friend of Dodd.
Obama and rival Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton had been vying for Dodd’s support since he exited the presidential race after a poor showing in the Iowa caucus last month. ........
