Richardson's roots were in Jamaica, but he spent a year of high school and one semester of college at the University of Bridgeport in the fall of 2004. Richardson was not there long, but he made an impression on his professors.
"He was here for only one semester. He did well in all of his classes the term he was here," Prof. Edward Geist said. "He wanted to be a business major, and I know he was planning to go into international business."

the last time i got called for jury duty

(no they didn't choose me, they didn't even get as far as actually questioning me. if they HAD, i would have asked to be excused because....) it was for a case where a man (allegedly - yeah right) beat the crap out of a pregnant woman (don't know if it was domestic or a robbery or what). the defendant was sitting in court while all the prospective jurors were brought in (prior to individual questioning). they told us to tell them if we knew any hartford hospital employees (if the beating was alleged why the hell would a hospital be involved i wondered to myself), which of course i do, if we know any east hartford police, which i do and if we knew any of the attorneys involved, which i didn't.

i saw that defendant sitting there in his newly purchased suit (which was so bright it was glowing) smirking up a storm.

i WOULD have asked to be excused not because i knew employees of east hartford or the hospital but because i knew that idiot beat the crap out of a pregnant woman. there was NO doubt in my mind

they better not call me up for THIS case either

Video: Lieberman 'won't rule out' switch to Republicans

David Edwards and Mike Sheehan

In an interview with MSNBC's Nora O'Donnell, Sen. Joe Lieberman (ID-CT) admits that joining the Republican Party is not out of the realm of possibility for him.
"I wouldn't rule [a switch to the GOP] out," Leiberman says to O'Donnell, adding that "my real hope here is to stay and fight for the kind of Democratic Party I joined when John F. Kennedy was president." He also says that he could support a Republican pro-war presidential candidate.
Lieberman said, "And to be as direct as I can be, Norah, in this question of who I will support for president, I'm going to wait until both parties have their nominees, and I'm going to support the candidate that I think is best for our country, regardless of party. And obviously the positions that they take on the war on terrorism will be very important to me."..........

Connecticut remembers four-year anniversary of Iraq War

by News Channel 8's Annie Rourke

Of the thousands of Americans killed since the war began, nearly 40-soldiers have called Connecticut home. Hundreds more have all ready served a tour or are on assignment now. .........

.........."I think that if Bush were to send his daughters there, pack them up, train them and send them out, he would have a really different opinion on this war," said Madeleine Frenette of Thomaston. Her 21-year-old son, Ruben Martinez is a marine and arrived in Iraq a week ago."..........

EC or “the morning after pill” is a safe and effective way to help prevent pregnancy AFTER unprotected sex or birth control failure.
EC is available without a prescription for women 18 years and older and can be obtained at the pharmacy. Women younger than 18 will need a prescription from their doctor or other heath care provider. Visit

Lawsuit Likely Over Pawn Shop Action Considered After Town Council Blocks Plan For Business

By DANIEL P. JONES, Courant Staff Writer

WEST HARTFORD -- A local businessman says he likely will sue town officials for rejecting his proposal to open what would have been the first pawn shop in town.In a unanimous vote this week, the town council denied Seth Boynick permission to open the shop on Park Road.Council members said their vote was not a reflection on Boynick as an applicant, but a determination that opening a pawn shop would not be in the best interest of the town.Boynick said he visited town zoning officials more than a year ago to verify that a pawn shop is a permitted use in that location, but got double talk from other officials about his proposal. He said he was expecting the council to reject his proposal and told town officials in advance that he would challenge a denial. .................

something is VERY wrong here

when someone assaults a 3 year old and gets NO prison time. when someone assaults a 3 year old and their name does NOT appear on the sexual predator registry (for civilians to see)

it is enough to make someone SICK much less doubt our judicial system

a plea deal? what or who did mr jones give up for that one? don't tell me there was no way to convict him EXCEPT to get that 3 year old (now about 6 or 7) to testify. don't tell me that because i KNOW NO jury would have believed a six year old telling a story about what happened to her three years ago.

Plea deal means no prison time for man who sexually assaulted 3-year old

Vernon-AP) _ A 27-year-old Bolton man has accepted a plea deal under which he will get probation, but no prison time for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl.
James Jones was found guilty yesterday of risk of injury to a minor and second-degree assault. He initially had been charged with first-degree sexual assault. Vernon Superior Court Judge Patricia Swords says she accepted the plea bargain so the child, who was molested in 2004, would not have to face her abuser and recount the sexual assault.
Jones must register as a sex offender for ten years, but his registration will remain secret to people who visit the state sex offender registry. Information about Jones' status on the list will be available only to law enforcement officials. The secret registration was part of the plea bargain.
During the sentencing hearing yesterday, Jones admitted he sexually assaulted the child.
