Dodd calls on government to reimburse troops for armor
February 20, 2006
WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Christopher Dodd is calling on federal officials to provide troops $1,100 each in case they want to buy new or additional body armor.
Dodd, D-Conn., is dissatisfied with the Pentagon's progress in distributing body armor and reimbursing troops for their purchases, the New Haven Register reported Monday. The Pentagon failed to launch a program last October that would have provided money to unit commanders rather than Pentagon officials, in order to expedite reimbursements for armor.
In a letter to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Dodd said he was frustrated by news that troops are required to turn over their armor to the Pentagon at the end of current deployments in order to receive reimbursement........
and don't forget bushwhacked is proposing the LOWEST raise in armed services pay (2%) in A LONG LONG LONG time
