Jerry Springer Show Debuts In Connecticut

STAMFORD - Audience members crowded to the Rich Forum in Stamford Monday morning for the first day of taping of The Jerry Springer Show in Connecticut. Starting this week, the converted stage theater is being used by NBC Universal to tape the talk show of the provocative talk show host, as well as The Steve Wilkos Show and "Maury," with Maury Povich.

The scene Monday was orderly, as many people who had arranged for tickets months in advance to be part of the first Springer show studio audience of about 175 people got their first glimpse at the theater. The Springer show, scheduled to tape three episodes today, is in its 19th season. Production moved from Chicago to Connecticut, lured by the state's 30 percent film and TV production credits.

Wes Craven To Film Horror Movie In Former Tolland High School

Not surprisingly, Wes Craven likes red sauce on his spaghetti.That's the way the horror movie maestro ordered it when he stopped for a bite locally last month, ahead of ironing out the deal signed Wednesday with the town to film part of his next fright feature, "25/8," at the former high school on Old Cathole Road..........
...........Writer/director Craven and his crew of 80 or so plan to begin work on "25/8" inside and outside the vacant building April 14. He'll pay the school district $37,000 plus expenses for the privilege, Superintendent William Guzman said Thursday.The movie, written by Craven, is about a serial killer who stalks seven teenagers born the night the killer purportedly died 15 years earlier.Craven's Stamford movie company, Lucky Cricket Productions, has assured the school board that violent scenes would not be filmed at the school and a fictitious town name will be used. Filming also takes place in New Milford and Stamford.Scenes shot here will show "kids doing normal kid things," film location manager Mike Nickodem said Thursday. Characters will be filmed in the halls, at biology class and on the soccer field."Nothing on the campus that is going to be done is an untoward event," said Guzman who prefers a "good drama" to a horror flick...........

Stamford soldier killed in Iraq
STAMFORD, Conn.—Stamford officials say a 26-year-old U.S. Army Ranger from the city has been killed in Iraq.

Fire Lieutenant Troy Jones told The Advocate of Stamford that Gabrielle Costello was killed in action Sunday. He says Costello's mother called the Glenbrook firehouse Thursday morning to tell people about her son's death.
Costello was a volunteer for the Glenbrook department. Jones says firefighters are stunned and are trying to absorb the news.
The Department of Defense has not announced Costello's death. Jones says Costello went into the Army in October 2004.
Costello is believed to be the first military member from Stamford to die in the war on terror. City native Barbara Heald was killed in Baghdad in 2005 while working a civilian job for the Army.................

Death Of Stamford Soldier A Possible Hoax
STAMFORD - The U.S. Army is trying to determine whether a report of a Stamford man killed in Iraq was a hoax.

Glenbrook Fire Department officials on Thursday said Gabrielle Costello, 26, a U.S. Army Ranger and member of the volunteer department, was killed in action in Iraq. The story was reported in The Advocate and other area news organizations.

There is no report of a U.S. Army Ranger killed in Iraq last weekend or any record of Gabrielle Costello -- or anyone with a similar name -- serving in the Army, said Shari Lawrence, deputy public affairs officer for the U.S. Army's Human Resources Command.
