More Than 170 People Displaced By Hartford Fire
The Hartford Courant
HARTFORD - Will Rodriguez went to take a shower today and noticed his bathroom ceiling was on fire.
He pulled the fire alarm, alerted his upstairs neighbors, grabbed his kitten and left. Rodriguez talked about the fire tonight while cradling the kitten, Princess, in the lobby of a building across the street from his burning apartment at 50 Willard St.
Firefighters spent more than three hours battling the three-alarm fire, which crawled along the ceilings of the sprawling, 160-unit, brick building. More than 170 people were displaced........
.........The American Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at the Pope Park Community Center for residents with no place to stay..........
