a coyote bites a woman at a connecticut rest stop

that is VERY unusual. coyotes rarely if ever attack humans. i've seen coyotes (some in avon when i used to work there) and they sure don't stick around when they see or smell humans. (there's a little video if you click on the link)

Connecticut Coyote Bites New York Woman At Rest Stop

BRANFORD, Conn. -- A New York woman is receiving rabies shots after being bitten by a coyote at a rest stop along Interstate 95.
The animal had been hanging around the McDonald's restaurant at the rest stop and was being fed by employees, authorities said.
The bite victim, Maria Gicana, a nurse from Queens, said she was driving home from Cape Cod with her boyfriend Sunday night when they stopped at the rest area. She was walking toward the restaurant when the animal attacked her from behind, biting her on the back of her knee...........

hey Rose, great blog. My only question is why are the people at Mcdonald's feeding the animal? they shouldn't have done that.

kate, you and i know that. i guess the people at the branford micky d's don't know that.

we all WANT to feed wild animals. the scoop is, MOST of them we should NOT. (i've worked in a very rural area and been surrounded by all sorts of animals. none fed except for birds. i now work in hartford and we have everything from hawks to bunnies to ducks. i have fed the ducks and made sure ONLY the ducks ate what i left.

That's very true. I suspect the branford Micky D's is going to be looking for new people.

Do you think this could lead to a lawsuit for them?

My mother hates the ducks.LOL, I live by the shoreline and believe me for awhiel they stopped in my back yard. for two weeks in a row they did that.

you never know about lawsuits. i was going to say no way to a suit against mickey d's but in this society one never knows.

how lucky you are to live by the shoreline!

one of my most favorite memories was just having finished dinner at my favorite restaurant (the harbor view in stonington - it has since burned down) going down to the shore (at night) while it was snowing very lightly out, and seeing swans swimming.

Omigosh..that's so beautiful..I live in near the west Haven beaches and I remember a few times I went for a walk at night and I saw this big mound of white (thinking it was snow-it wasn't)rock..and realized it was a swan. It was really low tide...

Around here they hang out along the I-95 exit ramp hills in Orange. In fields and in areas that I can't begin to think of..(brain fart I believe they call that)
